It’s been some long years since Sam Raimi gave us an original film directed by him, people have been waiting for so long for this to happen again and now he’s finally back, and the question is: was it worth the wait? Let’s just say that Send Help is not only one of his best films yet but also one of the most enjoyable theater experiences you could ever have.
“Two colleagues become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.”

Yes, the entire film is Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien fighting to live together on a lost island. This film has everything you could wish for in a Sam Raimi film. The direction is top-notch, with really unique Sam Raimi camera work, as you would imagine; you can see his passion and ambition in this project. The score is creepy and dark and gives the film the perfect tone. There are so many jokes to love here; sometimes you’ll be laughing out loud with these two characters. It’s incredible what Dylan and Rachel were able to pull off in this…
A girl who loves the concept of surviving on an island finds herself alone with her asshole boss—what could go wrong, right? Well, everything! The performances by Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien are agonizing, disturbing, and extremely funny at points. It’s a film packed with twists, and your opinion of these characters will change every five minutes throughout the movie; you’ll never know who you’re rooting for. It’s a twisted, crazy ride.

There’s not a lot to dislike in this film. Of course, not everything is perfect—don’t expect an amazing, super-genius script when that’s not what it’s trying to be. It aims to give you a fun time at the movie theater, and it does that very well. Prepare to see some truly agonizing, gory sequences that Sam Raimi loves to pull off.
I’m so glad we already started the year with a banger. Send Help is the most fun you’ll have at a movie theater. It’s campy, gory, extremely funny at times, and one of Sam Raimi’s best films. Make sure you watch this one in a movie theater.
