What are you gonna do when they come for you? The Bad Boys are back and better than ever! Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as the comedy duo detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett in this new installment of the franchise. Directors Adil El Arbi & Billal Fallah return as directors after the success of Bad Boys: For Life. Once again, they prove themselves as great action directors and can prove themselves given the right amount of time & resources. Mike & Marcus are sent on a mission to clear their deceased boss, Captain Howard’s name after being accused of corruption and involvement with the Cartel.
Mike and Marcus are sent on a wild goose chase and up framed themselves. They have to lay low, and have to align themselves with previous foes in order to find evidence. Along one of those former foes is Mike’s estranged son, Armando Aretas (Jacob Scipio) who will bring them a step closer in clearing their names. Along with some awkward father and son bonding through these misadventures. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s performances and chemistry carry the movie again with fantastic comedic timing and heartfelt moments. The characters’ bonds are

Eric Dane plays a decent villain for the movie but isn’t given much to work with. He’s very predictable and he doesn’t have much depth or motivations as to why he’s so demented. Mike and Marcus have some of their own mental and physical health issues throughout the film. Some of the character development is very undercooked and aren’t given much else to work with one of the duo’s psyche.
However, one of the major highlights of the film are the action scenes. The editing is seamless with some of the fights and shootouts throughout the film. The cinematography shows a fantastic environment with Miami. A city full of chaos, romance, and vibrant colors. The film even has some funny and memorable cameos, celebrities, memes, and references that old and new fans will appreciate.
Ultimately, Bad Boys: Ride or Die emerges as yet another exhilarating addition to the summer’s action-packed blockbuster lineup. Martin Lawrence and Will Smith bring their charismatic flair to this funny cinematic escapade.
