After fans of The Acolyte got frustrated by the show’s cancellation, Disney and Lucasfilm are back with a fresh, totally different story than we’ve ever seen before in any Star Wars TV show. A group of four kids going through an extremely entertaining adventure through space where the goal is: find their way back home. This ‘Goonies’-like series is pure fun for not only old fans of this franchise but is also a series made for the kids, they will have a total blast with this one…
It follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

The four kids are extremely charismatic, however things get better when Jude Law joins the team. This is the first series directed by Jon Watts, and honestly, he does a better job here than what he did in Wolfs. The first episode is an introduction to everything, following the main character, Wim, played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, he’s adorable throughout the show and his friendship with Neel is really enjoyable to follow, it’s just cute and once they meet KB and Fern, things get better due to their high differences between both duos. The first episode ends with what takes off the plot of the entire show, which is kids getting lost in space after leaving their home planet, and now they gotta find a way back.
We don’t see Jude Law having a prominent role until Episode 3, because Episode 2 was more of a “what’s going on?” thing and the kids trying to find out what to do to get back to their home, and they face their first challenge: pirates. I feel like the choice of putting pirates in this show just made everything so fresh and better, it works perfectly with the tone and atmosphere of the series. Really loved to see it. Nick Frost is also a standout with his voice on SM-33, he is like the “grown up” to take care of the kids while Jude Law doesn’t show up yet.

The makeup work and special effects in Skeleton Crew are outstanding, an amazing work made by the artists, they really managed to deliver something so fresh and unique to a story that needs some great work like that one. After watching only 3 episodes, it feels like there’s a lot more to explore in this show, I cannot wait to see where it all goes and what’s next, this is the type of show to play with the entire family and I can guarantee you’ll have a very much great time.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is adorable, visually incredible, and the perfect watch for the entire family. A unique Star Wars series that brings some freshness with charismatic characters and a “Goonies-like” vibe to it all.
