If there’s one thing I’ll be doing once or twice a year is watching the newest film Pixar has to offer us. Some times they surprise, some times they disappoint. Yet it’s undeniable that they are one of if not the best animation studio in Hollywood. In 2023, we had an original film called Elemental, some love some didn’t, I personally loved it but thought it missed more of what made Pixar so especial. In 2024 we were given a sequel to one of their best films ever, Inside Out 2, which was amazing to revisit this world. Since then, we been waiting for them to deliver an original film that reminds us of their golden days back in the 2000’s and sadly, despite being such an incredible film, Elio wasn’t able to manage such achievement (yet I still loved that film). But now, Pixar releases their best original film since 2020’s Soul! That’s because Hoppers is everything and more that I wanted it to be and I couldn’t be happier.
A 19-year-old animal lover uses technology that places her consciousness into a robotic beaver to uncover mysteries within the animal world beyond her imagination.

How simple do you think this story is? Forget anything you know, because this movie is much more than it looks like it is. When I watched the trailer for this, I never thought I would resonate with this movie this much. This film has a lot to similarities to 2009’s Up, do I need to say anything else? From the opening sequence you’ll already figure that you’re in for such an emotional and chaotic experience. Mabel is such a relatable character, she’s not only super charismatic but also her passion and her objectives in this film are really important and reasonable.
I genuinely loved the humans part of this film, the jokes, the animation it’s just all so perfect. And about that, the JOKES! This film is, without a doubt, Pixar’s funniest film ever. Hoppers made me laugh out loud at times, from unexpectedly chaotic story choices to insane and creative jokes. Expect to laugh so much with this one. It’s easy to say that Hoppers is so far the best animated movie of the year and is just chaotically hilarious.

I think this word defines this movie pretty much: chaotic! A lot of things going on, a lot of insane action. Every chasing scene, action sequence in this works so much. I feel like this film itself made me feel everything, I was crying at times, and then I would laugh out loud and then would be creeped out by some scenes that could even scare some kids! Loved every single bit of it.
Hoppers is a brilliant leap forward for animation. Full of heart, a chaotically hilarious, and some unexpectedly creepy moments that audiences will adore. A film with such needed and reasonable message. This is Pixar’s best film in years.
Hoppers releases in theaters on March 6.
