Ted still stands as one of my favorite comedy movies of all time, without a single doubt. The movie is immensely funny, Ted is such a great character, his relationship with John is so good that I could watch it for hours and hours and here is exactly what we got, Ted series is as good as the movies, I loved how it totally managed to be as good as the movies, but with a small twist: they made this actually feel like a TV show and not a movie divided in 8 parts. Ted reminds me of those Disney Channel tv shows (but R Rated) with some cheesy stories in each episode and I just had a great time with it.
In Ted, the series, it’s 1993 and Ted’s moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Burkholder), who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents and cousin. Ted might not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted’s willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family.

Like I said before, this series totally feels like a real TV show. You might be wondering what I mean by that. Well, what I mean is that each episode has its own story with its own consequences. These consequences don’t necessarily affect the next episode. Each story is completed in just one episode, and then in the next one, you have a completely different plot. What really stands out to me is that every single story works. Some may work better than others, but this show truly captures the essence of Ted and what he’s always been about.
In the Ted movies, we get to see John Bennett and Ted all grown up, but we never really stop to think about how they ended up becoming the adults they are. It’s fascinating to see Ted’s introduction to porn and how it shaped him into the “adult” we know from the movies. I love how this show can easily connect with people and make them think, “Oh yeah, I remember going through something similar.” Especially those who were born in a time when the internet wasn’t as prevalent. It’s definitely relatable.

But of course, it ain’t any type of spectacle, it’s just a dark humored, goofy and unserious tv show about a teddy bear and his best friends going through the tough life of high school. People will have a blast with this one, at least the ones that watched the movies and enjoyed it. So yeah, if you loved the movies than you’ll love this too, it’s pure Ted in its best form, a great way to start off the year.
Ted is the perfect prequel. If you liked the movies, then you’re gonna love this show. The humor is on point, and this worked so damn well as a sitcom. It’s a blast to see John and Ted’s journey to becoming who they are now. It’s the best way to kick off the year. This show is truly amazing, and if there are more seasons coming, count me in no matter what.
