‘Only Murders In The Building’ Season 3 Review: Back And As Great As Always

I’ve been excited for Only Murders In The Building since the announcement of its first season. I’ve been following the series’ production since day one and I’m pleasantly surprised that we’re already on Season 3. The quality of the previous seasons has been maintained, which is surprisingly impressive.

What I admire most about this show is Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez’s characters are perfect together. Their chemistry in this show is delightful to watch and rewatch. However, it’s not just the main leads that are excellent, every single person that lives in the Arconia building is remarkable and enjoyable, making this show even more unique.

I understand that it’s difficult to create a murder mystery show that doesn’t become repetitive over time, some people may find this season repetitive because it features the same characters and another mystery. However, I don’t find it tedious because of its well-developed and expertly told story. The fast-paced storytelling and well-crafted characters kept me engaged from beginning to the end. The cast additions are always excellent, and Meryl Streep’s sudden appearance was no exception, she played her role brilliantly, bringing a character full of secrets and a dark past, she’s definitely my favorite addition to this new season.

This review covers the first eight episodes of this new season, so I can’t say how I feel about the season as a whole yet. It’s difficult for me to choose which season I like the most and which one I like the least because they’re simply all phenomenal. I appreciate that the show always takes the right steps to avoid being repetitive and predictable. It’s very entertaining.

Selena Gomez in Only Murders In The Building Season 3

In this new season, we see the murder of Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), which was hinted at in the second season’s finale. Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are back to solve another murder mystery. The soundtrack is phenomenal and perfectly complements the show, the performances are outstanding and the cinematography is exceptional. If you haven’t seen this show, I highly recommend you start watching it immediately.

I love how this show manages to be funny all the time, it doesn’t repeat or use unfunny jokes to make it something that it isn’t, every joke work, the dialogues are well worked, some characters get even more funnier when they interact with others. In this season, Charles is more foolish than he used to be. He has always been like that, but in this season, we have some very goofy moments coming from him. Oliver has a more serious tone here. Even with Ben’s death, he still wants his show to go on and get that done. Mabble, a star of her own, is still into murder mysteries and here is no different. If someone dies in that building, she’ll be there no matter what.

This season definitely has the best cast this show could ever have, and it bring that Emmys now! What a show, what a season! Only Murders in the Building Season 3 is another wild, bloody, funny and extremely enjoyable season with an amazing cast and a flawless script. We’re back to the Arconia in the best way possible.
