‘I Am Groot’ Season 2 Review: More of the Same, Yet Still Enjoyable

0 0

Last year we got Marvel Studios’ I Am Groot and we all realized that this “show” was actually made for little kids, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t enjoy it even if the show’s target audience isn’t meant for older audiences. Nonetheless, I really enjoy those shorts: they’re fun, out of pocket, and really enjoyable. I Am Groot Season 2 is far from being bad, really, but the first season was still better. The big reason is this: this season manages to be even shorter than the first one with some episodes being as long as three minutes.

As told, these episodes are shorts, and they were not playing. All of these are very short shorts, but they have something fun to showcase in each of them. Since they’re all short, I will rank them from best to worst and give my opinion about each respective episode.

5. Groot’s Snow Day

Even though this episode has one of the best visuals of the series, it still was, in my opinion, the worst of the season. It was boring overall and it was literally and fully generic, I really didn’t enjoy this short, it felt like nothing in this episode was exciting or interesting to see.

4. Groot Noses Around

This episode, with a mere duration of 3 minutes including credits, is characterized by its remarkable swiftness, leaving viewers yearning for more. Despite its brevity, it manages to deliver amusement through the introduction of a sub-plot involving Groot’s newfound sense of smell.

Observing Groot’s whimsical reactions and expressions as he encounters various scents adds a delightful touch to the episode. However, a slightly extended storyline would provide a more fulfilling viewing experience.

3. Groot And The Great Prophecy

This short would not be as good as it was if we didn’t have The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) narrating it, which was by far the best thing this episode had. He has a big role in it and his reactions to Groot’s decisions and behavior are really funny. Although the plot of this episode is not very interesting, The Watcher’s narration makes it enjoyable to watch.

2. Are You My Groot?

I wasn’t sure whether this episode deserved a first place position or a second one because it manages to be as good as my first choice. I’m pretty sure it takes place in the same forest that we saw in the first season. Now, Groot finds a new friend, and we see his relationship with that friend develop throughout the episode. It’s funny, with many quirky moments that made me laugh, and it offers another enjoyable adventure for this lighthearted show.

1. Groot’s Sweet Treat

This was one of my favorite shorts for several reasons. Groot’s Sweet Treats features the lovable character Groot attempting to find a coin on their ship. They need the coin to purchase an ice cream. This short is incredibly entertaining, and it has some unexpected moments that will make you chuckle. Watching Groot search for that coin is a joyous experience. The visuals and cinematography of this short are breathtaking, filled with references to other Marvel Studios films. It is undoubtedly a must-watch for everyone.

Overall, I Am Groot Season 2 is more of the same, if you enjoyed watching the first season then you’ll definitely enjoy this one too. It’s funny, with many out of pocket moments, goofy scenes, and really interesting references and easter eggs from the Marvel Universe.
