Outer Banks Season 3 Review: An Epic Pogue Comeback

1 0

I’m completely speechless. I was always a huge fan of Outer Banks and it’s definitely one of my favorite series Netflix ever made. With this new season, I’m even more sure about my statement. I’ll talk about each character of this season so we can have an idea of how each one behaved but I will avoid telling you any plot details to preserve your experience.

Big John is back and looking for his son, John B, and this is something that was already revealed back in the last season. However, this season is when we finally see John B and his father together again. Big John and John B are the main characters of this season; this season focus majorly on the relationship between father and son. The way John B admires his father and how he see that his father was not exactly who he thought he was provides a lot of compelling drama. Although the focus is on their relationship, the treasure hunt continues, and they’re on their way to El Dorado, a city made of gold; could it be real? Big John claims that it is and he really doesn’t give up until he gets what he wants. This season also focuses on new relationships between certain characters, with a few brand new couples…who? You’ll gonna have to wait to see it, but I promise you that it’s worth the wait. The action scenes are top tier, especially in the beginning of the season, with some intense chase sequences. My personal favorite characters of the season are John B, JJ and, guess who? WARD. Ward may be an imbecile, but in this season Ward has fantastic character development, and an incredible performance by Charles Esten. Viewers can also CRAZY plot twists that will blow their minds and make them think: “How was that character able to do this?”

The scenarios, the places we go, are way beyond only Outer Banks. With new locations, we get to meet new people and also… a new villain, Singh. He’s a terrifying figure obsessed with gold, who feels the need of finding El Dorado and isn’t afraid to harm anyone in his quest to locate the city. JJ is fantastic in this season as well; this dude makes me laugh and makes me so proud. Despite his lack of family, he finds happiness through his best friends. It’s just so wholesome to see. Kiara goes through a lot of stuff this season, but her performance and character arc is great. Unfortunately the character of Pope, feels kind of ignored this season. I don’t know if that’s because he already was a main focus on the 2nd season since his family had to do with the cross, but he lacks development compared to other characters in the series. However, his friendship with Cleo is entertaining, providing some levity for his character. Rafe is very limited this season. He appears at the beginning of the season but does not interfere with the main plot, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In my opinion, Rafe needs to move on and do his own thing now; he gained what he desired, and has no more purpose on the team. Topper, like Pope, does not get much development as well.

Outer Banks Season 3 is a phenomenal comeback for the Pogues. This season has new mysteries, new treasures, and new relationships that will surely hook viewers in. Additionally, great action scenes and an epic season finale makes this series one of the best Netflix has on their platform.
