In the vast landscape of the entertainment industry, some cinematic treasures often go unnoticed, obscured by the dazzling lights that shine upon their more prominent counterparts. These unsung heroes of the silver screen are the films that captivate, inspire, and surprise us, yet fail to receive the recognition they truly deserve. I’m bringing you here the 10 most underrated movies of the year. (Note: This list is subjective, based one ONE person’s opinion)
Missing

Missing is a hidden gem in the realm of cinema, sadly underrated despite its captivating storyline and outstanding performances. This simply amazing and compelling mystery thriller deserves greater recognition for its thought-provoking narrative and ability to keep audiences enthralled from beginning to end. This movie still stands as my Top 4 movies of the year and if you still haven’t watched it make sure to do so as soon as possible.
Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo combines thrilling action sequences, emotional drama, and inspiring themes of perseverance and passion. Despite some flaws in the script and characterization, the film managed to be one of my favorites this year. It truly deserved more attention and appreciation from critics and audiences alike.
A Haunting In Venice

A Haunting In Venice is a brilliant adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel with a horror twist. The film is full of suspense, mystery, and some terrifying moments, as Poirot tries to solve a series of murders that are linked to a tragic past. The film also boasts a stellar cast, including Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, and Kelly Reilly, who deliver captivating performances.
Strays

I know most people will disagree with this, but look, Strays was everything we wanted it to be and more. Packed with raunchy humor, unexpected twists, and some shocking violence. The cast chemistry is out of this world and this one definitely stands as one of my favorite comedy movies of the year.
Blue Beetle

I know the bar isn’t very high, but Blue Beetle was one of the best DCEU movies, easily. It’s full of heart, emotion, and some great action scenes. Despite having a weak villain, the movie managed to be pretty much enjoyable. It was a massive flop for the comic book movie genre, but it truly did not deserve this.
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny

Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny might not be the gran finale we expected it to be for this franchise, but honestly, I thought this movie was better than reviews and audiences made it look like it was. The ending was rough but the movie is really well paced and had some really enjoyable action scenes. It’s definitely not an amazing movie, but a decent one.
Haunted Mansion

One of Disney’s biggest flops deserved more. Haunted Mansion was genuinely great, at least for me. It’s spooky and I had a great time at my screening. The movie had average humor, but it’s packed with heart and surprisingly a story about grief that will touch people’s hearts. I really liked this one.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

One of the year’s biggest flops can also be considered one of its best movies. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is completely epic and mind blowing in every single aspect. This movie TRULY deserved more than what it actually got, the plot is so good, the characters are amazing and the humor is top notch, incredible movie.
The Marvels

Marvel Studios’ biggest flop, which is really surprising, specially considering that the first movie earned over 1 billion dollars. The Marvels was an enjoyable movie that despite having a weak villain, it managed to be an incredibly entertaining Marvel adventure.
Next Goal Wins

Taika Waititi might have failed with Thor: Love And Thunder, but Next Goal Wins was a total crowd pleaser and I don’t care about who disagrees. This movie was actually funny and had some very impactful emotional beats. I’m a huge fan of soccer and this was, for me, a total gift.
