First Reactions For Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ Have Finally Arrived

#TheLittleMermaid is pretty solid… it brings us a wonderful cast and a magical soundtrack, but after all is just another Disney live action.

Halle Bailey does a great job as #Ariel and so does Melissa McCarthy as #Ursula but the movie fails to find the soul of the original. pic.twitter.com/7ETEsPoscL

#TheLittleMermaid really surprised me. It's my favorite Disney live-action remake by far. (Not saying much I know.) Halle Bailey's voice is phenomenal, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric is charming. The rest of the cast is solid. The animals still look creepy but grew on me. pic.twitter.com/syjAjP3uCw

It’s real simple. Are you excited for #TheLittleMermaid? You’ll like it. It’s exactly what you think it is. Are you skeptical and worried about it? That’s valid too. It looks weird and disjointed. Bailey is great, McCarthy rules, the songs work but it just feels so unnecessary. pic.twitter.com/n4qp7MsVFH

#TheLittleMermaid may have murky visuals, but the above-ground romance works swimmingly.

Great chemistry sells the love story, and the songs we know and love are still magical.

Like the other live-action remakes, this doesn’t touch the classic, but it’s enough to stay afloat. pic.twitter.com/f1J684tohy

Halle Bailey shines as Ariel in the live-action 'The Little Mermaid.'

That said, the film sometimes struggles to create its own magic as it often relies on the imagery from the animation. However, there are substantive changes that make the film worthwhile. #TheLittleMermaid pic.twitter.com/0Ab4JMyzPZ

My favorite part of the Little Mermaid is when Ariel sings the "Part of Your World" Reprise and it made me cry when Halle sang it! She's a perfect Ariel and I'm obsessed with Jonah Hauer-King's take on Eric! #TheLittleMermaid

#TheLittleMermaid is STUNNING! @HalleBailey SHINES as Ariel. Jonah Hauer-King's Eric is charming. Melissa McCarthy's Ursula is wicked. Daveed Diggs' Sebastian is a standout! This is the Disney live-action remake to watch. Full review coming to @AgentsFandom very soon! pic.twitter.com/oym6wkaCqP

#TheLittleMermaid is filled with a few great performances from Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy, but it's a mostly paint-by-numbers remake that's isn't as good as the animated masterpiece. pic.twitter.com/YY4ielYXiR
