Released in 2007, Phineas and Ferb is a show created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh about stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb, who want to make the most of their 104-day summer vacation by building over-the-top things while their pet platypus Perry secretly fights an evil scientist, and growing up, this series was my life.
Every day after school I couldn’t wait to get home and watch the latest episode of the show, loving it so much to the point I’ve seen all the episodes, seen both movies, played every game and have even seen the in-universe spin-off show Milo Murphy’s Law, so when it was announced they were bringing the show back for a new season, I was kind of worried.
And the reasons for this were what if it wasn’t as good as I remembered, and another worry was whether they would try and appeal to the newer generation while leaving and forgetting about the older fans who are now all grown up and adults.
And after watching the first two episodes of the new season, it’s safe to say we are back and better than ever before.

The first episode can only be described as a big cinematic event, with the episode starting off with a big music number that the show has become well known for, recapping and reintroducing us to a world we haven’t seen in a while, almost feeling like as if we never left, with the first half of the episode not only leaving you in shock but wanting more. This is how you bring back an old IP to a new generation.
And although the second episode isn’t as cinematic as the first episode, it does bring us back to the status quo of the original show we are all so used to, with the inventions being ridiculously over the top as ever, while also making you wish you had them; Candace trying and failing to bust her brothers; and Perry and Dr Doofenshmirtz fighting one another. And even though there are some jokes that are definitely aimed at and meant for the newer generation of fans, there’s still also plenty of stuff here for the older generation of fans as well.
With a lot of IPs being brought back these days, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh have shown with just these two episodes how it should be done.
The new Phineas & Ferb Season releases on Disney+ this Friday.
