It’s crazy to think we’re almost half the way through 2025 and I feel like we haven’t seen many horror hits besides Sinners… Sure, we had The Monkey, Until Dawn, and Drop. But being completely honest with you, those films just really weren’t able to hit the mark for me. With that said, I will start by telling you that Final Destination: Bloodlines is not, in my opinion, another horror “hit” like Sinners was for example, but instead something that will definitely delight fans of the franchise, but not much besides that.
Plagued by a recurring violent nightmare, a college student returns home to find the one person who can break the cycle and save her family from the horrific fate that inevitably awaits them.

I must confess I am not a fan of the Final Destination franchise, not because I don’t like the films but just because of the simple fact I haven’t seen most of them. This is the 6th film in this franchise and I wonder what people like about it so much that made it through its sixth installment. It must sound like I’m hating on it, but it’s just that it’s the type of film that I will watch a certain day and forget about it the week later. Maybe it’s just not my thing, because the entire plot of this franchise is people trying to stop death and at the end it’s inevitable, they can try and try to stop it but it won’t work so why watch all of this if we know how is it gonna end…
I think when you have a movie like this, you rely on delivering the best, most gory scenes you can. And I can confirm, Final Destination: Bloodlines delivers some agonizing, absurd kills that will leave you nauseous. I’m glad that they nailed most of the deaths perfectly, this was one of the most agonizing experiences I ever had at a movie theater. The deaths and the suspense just kept going and that’s what didn’t make me hate this film. And after it all, I actually throughly enjoyed it.
The film’s opening scene is simply masterful. It’s genuinely great, watching it in an IMAX film felt so agonizing and traumatizing that it genuinely felt like I was inside the SkyView restaurant experiencing everything they were. The graphics are excellent and that is super appreciated especially in a film like this. Most death sequences were great, with some mind-blowing deaths with an absurdly agonizing atmosphere. Besides the opening scene, I must highlight the hospital scene where things get crazy when they try to mess up with death. No spoilers, you gotta watch it to see how wild it is.

Even with some great deaths, it also has its weak ones. The barbecue scene, where in the trailer we see a piece of glass inside someone’s cup and a man jumping in a trampoline, is totally wasted in my opinion and definitely the least ambitious scene in the entire film. Yes, it had the potential to be the most terrifying scene in the entire movie, but they decide to transform that entire scene in a generic, boring death that didn’t fit so well with the path the film was taking. They gotta be creative with the kills, show us things we never seen, and I feel like in this scene they didn’t even try.
A lot to love but also a lot to dislike, Final Destination: Bloodlines is an agonizing, terrifying yet mediocre show of horror packed with some funny twists but never enough to justify its existence.
