After every single polemic involved with this show, it was clear that it was going to end sooner or later. This show could’ve easily lasted for many more seasons, adapting more comic books from this franchise, but no. A lot of behind-the-scenes complications have happened, and it seemed like it was time to end. This time, we’re getting a shorter season with only 6 episodes. After getting 3 seasons with 10 episodes, you expect the last one to be the same thing or even longer if anything! But unfortunately no, the last season of The Umbrella Academy is actually really fun and there’s a lot to take out of it, but it ends up as the worst season of the series.
The last season concluded with a significant twist: a new timeline created by the family patriarch, Reginald (Colm Feore), where the siblings have lost their powers. This timeline is filled with peculiarities, and the stakes are higher than ever. New enemies have emerged, determined to eliminate them. But how will they confront these foes without their powers? And will they ever regain their abilities? Well, they do; that’s not a spoiler as they revealed in the trailer.

Even though I said this might be the worst season of the series, this still was a fun watch, I think the problem of it is the pacing and the rushed storytelling, how they try really hard to get quickly to the grand finale that they forget to develop the story more than they actually did. Once again, Aidan Gallagher’s 5 is the main focus of this all, he’s the one that always knows what to do and what decisions to make, if it wasn’t for him, the world would’ve ended on season 1 because it seems like every other sibling are as stupid as a rock. But the real main character of this season is Ben, played by Justin H. Min, which we saw dying (for a second time) at the 3rd season, which by the way was an amazing season.
As I’m not trying to get into spoilers, I will just say Ben is essential for the plot, nothing besides that as I think it’s important to experience this and finding out everything as you watch it. The whole family work well together again, seeing all of them back interacting with each other is a total delight. Elliot Page is a great actor but was definitely not a standout this season, however, David Castañeda and Ritu Arya steal the scene every time they show up. Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are great in these, the tone they add to this season is magnificent and I enjoyed every second of it. From family complications to world ending complications, The Umbrella Academy Season 4 can sometimes be corny, but at least enjoyable.

One of the most aspects of a final season is its ending, that’s what will determine if the season was good or not, and well, the ending was indeed fitting and satisfying, I felt like many people will be disappointed or really sad but I truly feel that the way they ended the story felt right, it showed that the ending is not always like we want it to be. Get some tissues ready.
This show was indeed a wild ride and I’m really grateful for what it has provided for us. The Umbrella Academy Season 4 brings a fitting end to a story that will disappoint some and please others. A very fun yet rushed story that will leave you amused and sometimes surprised by how Nick Offerman is so good in everything.
The Umbrella Academy Final Season is NOW streaming on Netflix.
