‘Lift’ Review: Kevin Hart In Another Bland And Uninspired Netflix Action Flick

Netflix is very popular for doing high budgeted movies with a pathetic, empty, bland, and mediocre plot. Something that most of these Netflix original movies have in common is that they are all related to making a big heist or espionage, you know, super generic. And guess what? Lift is here to prove that they didn’t changed at all, this movie is yet another disappointment for the studio.

Lift follows a master thief and her ex-boyfriend who team up to steal $100 million in gold bullion being transported on a 777 passenger flight.

I remember covering Kevin Hart’s last 2 movies with Netflix, which were Me Time and The Man From Toronto and I will say that I roughly enjoy both of them, even though they’re generic flicks, at least they managed to be enjoyable. Well I’ll tell you that Lift ain’t that at all, this movie was terrible from start to finish. Nothing works, the characters are derivative and uninspired, it feels like those characters have personalities taken from characters from other movies, the movie could barely manage to enjoy, I had some fun for the first 10 minutes but after that it just goes downhill. The way this movie had no climax at all makes it just even worse, because that’s something crucial in this type of film.

I won’t lie to you and say this is worth giving s try, because it really isn’t. Lift tries so hard to deliver a action packed movie full of CGI, insane scenes and all that but it just couldn’t stick the landing. Kevin Hart delivers one of his most forgettable and bland characters I ever seen him playing (and we got some terrible ones out there too so the bar IS high, trust me).

The CGI was good, but money can’t save this movie from the dismal experience that it is. The cast have charisma and I know that we got some great actors in here, but the story is just so terribly written and just so bad in general that wasn’t enough to keep me hooked at all. The movie has barely 1 hour and 50 minutes and I was begging it to end. Vincent D’Onofrio is one of the highlights and happy to see him doing good, it’s been a while since I saw him on screen.

Lift is yet another abysmal Kevin Hart movie. The most derivative and uninspiring plot is shown right here and adds nothing new. Characters that feel like were taken from other movies. A total waste of time and money. If you have plans to watch this, well I wish you a very good luck!

Rating: 1 out of 5.
