Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants Crossover Special Locked In For 2023

The whimsical, wacky, and extravagant cycle of comedy that is the Spongebob Squarepants franchise keeps going. With so many seasons behind the lovable children’s character at the bottom of the sea (as well as three movies and an upcoming fourth), Nickelodeon’s first 2023 addition comes in the form of a special crossover: Spongebob Squarepants Presents The Tidal Zone.

SpongeBob SquarePants Presents The Tidal Zone is a multidimensional adventure that ventures through the many shows within the Spongebob Universe including the original Spongebob Squarepants, The Patrick Star Show, and Paramount+’s Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years. A journey into an hour of television where two dimensions can become three, and French divers can wear black ties, viewers can expect a tale of both comedy and caution, of satire and stupidity, where minds may switch, bodies may shrink, and robots may rise.

Spongebob Squarepants Presents The Tidal Zone is set to premiere on Nickelodeon on January 13 at 7:00 p.m. EST with encores on January 14 and 15 at the same time. The special is set to premiere across Nickelodeon’s international channels next year as well, though there’s been no set date to release the special on Paramount+.

The special features legendary voice talent Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Jill Talley (Karen, Squidina), Cree Summer (Bunny Star), Tom Wilson (Cecil Star),  Dana Snyder (GrandPat), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Rodger Bumpass (Squidward).

Created by Stephen Hillenburg and produced by Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the most-watched animated series for nearly 20 consecutive years, while generating a universe of beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base. SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the most widely distributed properties in Paramount International history, seen in more than 170 countries, translated in 29+ languages, and averaging more than 100 million total viewers every quarter.

The Patrick Star Show is a spin-off series that focuses on Spongebob’s best friend, Patrick Star, and his family. Developed by Luke Brookshier, Marc Ceccarelli, Andrew Goodman, Kaz, Doug Lawrence, and Vincent Waller, the series focuses on Patrick and his family hosting a late-night talk show with out-of-the-box shenanigans and hijinks featuring characters new and old. Premiering in 2021, the series was announced in 2022 to have a second season.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years is a Paramount+ spin-off series that focuses on the younger versions of the iconic gang during their time at the summertime camp, Kamp Koral. Premiering in 2021, the series is still on-going, with fourteen episodes still in development.
