‘Fck’n Nuts’ Short Film Review: Just Read The Title

This short film by Sam Fox is a neon filled absurdist horror/comedy that is a roller coaster the entire way through. The main character Sandy is extremely nervous when Dan, the boy she is dating, shows up to her home confessing his love and asking to meet her parents. She is very reluctant for him to meet them, for every boy that has hasn’t stayed with her. She states they are “nuts”.

I am not going to spoil this one, it is a story that should only be experienced visually. What I will say however is I loved this short. The cinematography was eye catching. The sound design was clean. From the over the top practical effects and props to Dan wiping Sandy’s vomit off her porch with his hand and sitting right where it was, this film had me smiling in astonishment the entire ten minutes. No scratch that, twelve minutes, because even the credits had me giggling to myself.

If you don’t watch this film you are truly missing out. “Fck’n Nuts” screens at the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans November 3, 2023 at 9:15pm. Sam Fox states at least another 6 months on the festival circuit before they make a decision on how to release the film to the public.
