Lost Bullet 2 (Original Title: Balle Perdue 2) is the sequel to the 2020 film Lost Bullet, which was a widely appreciated action movie by Netflix, but its hype dies pretty soon. But it did do well enough for Netflix to produce a sequel to it, and now in 2022 we finally have the sequel to the french language crime-action-adventure flick. The first installment was exhilarating and people were highly anticipating the sequel, especially fans of the first one.
Most of the original cast returned for the sequel as it was a direct continuation of the story. Tonally, the film was in the same zone as the first as it was dark and emotional. Like the first one, it also had a pretty short run time standing at 98 minutes including credits. Guillaume Pierret returned to helm the sequel, and he definitely worked hard to make sure that it would be a worthy sequel to the predecessor. The base plot is very straightforward as Lino continues his hunt to find Areski and the other members who killed his mentor.
The dialogues are better in this one, and the screenplay is very fast-paced. The sequel has a thinner story, which makes room for more action sequences, and this movie is filled with them. The acting performances are decent and other technical aspects are also good. The main highlight of the film is the incredibly executed stunt work. Some of the car chase sequences are amazing to watch and constantly create an adrenaline rush in the viewer.
The stunts all look practical and it doesn’t seem as if they used much VFX. Even if they did, I couldn’t spot it. The best part is that most of the stunts seem practically possible and realistic, unlike the stunts in recent franchises like fast and furious. The emotion is carried on in this film from the previous one, and it acts as a motivator for more hardcore chases and intensity. But this time around, the makers don’t shy away from being brutal with characters.
Lost Bullet 2 is an action-packed ride that is a worthy sequel to its predecessor. The car chase sequences are wonderfully executed and the practical stuntwork will leave you impressed. It is a fast-paced flick that wastes no time in unnecessary places and has room for more, and it can become one of the better action film franchises for Netflix. It is definitely a recommendation for action movie lovers.
