‘The Killer’ Review: Fincher Strikes Again

I’ve been waiting to watch this movie for months, but now I can finally say I witnessed David Fincher’s The Killer and is indeed not only a piece of art, but also a remarkable and agonizing experience.

A man solitary and cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, the killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool. A brutal, bloody and stylish noir story of a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind.

Michael Fassbender’s stellar performance is no secret, as he embodies a ruthless, captivating and profoundly nuanced character. His arc is undoubtedly one of the movie’s highlights, as Fassbender portrays the role flawlessly, mesmerizing the audience with his presence in every scene. He is intriguing, entertaining and certainly a strong contender for the upcoming awards season.

Apart from Michael Fassbender, the only other actor/actress who deserves a mention is Tilda Swinton, who delivers an immersive performance. The movie does have some minor flaws, such as the lack of consequences for the main character’s actions. He seems to get away with everything he does, without facing any challenges or obstacles. I wished there was more conflict, you know? The storytelling, editing, score and soundtrack are top-notch, as the movie boasts impeccable technical aspects.

David Fincher has once again created a masterpiece, with his brilliant and inventive direction. The only thing I would criticize in this regard is the abrupt transitions between chapters, which sometimes interrupt the flow of the scenes and jump to the next chapter without any warning or preparation.

The movie was a nerve-wracking and harrowing depiction of the man’s life, his actions, his psyche and the insanity of his situation. It showed how a serial killer’s existence is dismal, terrifying and perilous.

As we all already know, David Fincher is a gifted and remarkable director, and here he does not disappoint… The Killer is a gripping, ruthless, exhilarating and bleak movie that portrays the experiences and life of a serial killer and its repercussions. Another colossal accomplishment for the skilled director.
