Spirited Review: Lovely Way To Start This Holiday Season
Ryan Reynolds is my favorite actor, Im not afraid on saying it, I know 99% of you will disagree with me but anyways, I love most of the movie he does, I just think is is such a charismatic actor in every movie he does, not only as a character but as a person I admire here in many ways, Ryan Reynolds is literally the GOAT with no fear, Will Ferrell is such a funny actor, he makes me laugh in every movie he’s in it, Daddy’s Home is HILARIOUS and I don’t care what people say, I love that movie.
Spirited, a Christmas musical comedy with Will and Ryan as the lead characters, ok this made me excited for sure! Seeing those two actors together in a comedy was such a joy for me, and for sure, it did not disappoint, it’s not a masterpiece (like most of the Christmas movies aren’t) but it’s still a fun and entertaining movie that you should watch on this Christmas season.
The movie tells a story similar to what we saw in A Christmas Carol, which is a classic of Christmas movie, but this one shows us the perspective of the ghosts and their lives, which is way more interesting than I thought it could be… Will Ferrell plays Roberto (It’s not Roberto, but I’m not saying he’s real name because it’d be a heavy spoiler so I’ll call him like this in this review), which is the Chief of the Christmas spirits, the one who manages everything, and so he finds Clint (Ryan Reynolds), a selfish and rude rich man who definitely needed some ghosts intervention to make him change and become a good person, so he goes in this journey to make Clint a good person but, as he said, Clint is unredeemable, that means there’s no way to make him be a good person, you know who else was unredeemable? Scrooge… yeah I guess we know he was redeemable after all so… let’s give a try right?
Many good songs, but my favorite one was ‘Good Afternoon’, which was hilarious, the movie manages to bring very well choreographed dancing scenes with such a lovely cast, I forgot to mention Octavia Spencer which did such an incredible job. Will and Ryan has an incredible chemistry in screen that’s such a joy to watch they singing and dancing together, the movie is definitely not perfect and it has its flaws, I took some time to get intrigued into it, it started slow and it did not got my attention at first, my first thought was that the movie would be such generic and that’s it, the movie was actually pretty good.
CGI is exceptional, the visuals of this movie are insanely good, the colors, the camera movements, they work so well that honestly made me surprised for a Christmas movie. The movie has a very heavy emotional charge… there is one specific scene that made my heart stop for a minute and be like: “Oh my god I wasn’t expecting he to do this, but makes sense because we never know how mentally incapable we are and we need always to be careful with our actions…” Yeah I know it’s very complex what I just said but wait until you watch the movie…
A story about self love, about loving the others and always think before doing something because sometimes what you can cause can be something worse than you thought it would be, it’s just a emotional story and sometimes feels cliché but you know… it’s a Christmas movie, when you watch one all you need to expect is to cry and feel happy to how it ends because as we know, Christmas is time to be with our family and enjoy the little moments because that’s why life’s worthy.
Spirited is a fun and lovely movie about love and how your actions can affect the ones around you, a movie about overcoming and making the change, a must watch to this Holiday Season!
