You can say whatever you want, but Sylvester Stallone is certainly one of the actors who marked a generation, but anyone is perfect, right? Stallone brings us one of his worst performances in his career but which, luckily, is a movie that can’t be something great.

Amazon Prime Video showed in ‘The Boys’ that they know very well how to do superhero projects, so why not trust them to bring Sylvester Stallone as a retired superhero, right? From then on, things go downhill.

Still from ‘Samaritan’, all rights to Amazon.

The film begins with a very interesting flashback scene and with an intriguing look that really promised, we see a scene from several years ago when the Samaritan fought against Nemesis and in the end Nemesis had apparently died and so also the Samaritan. Years later, Sam (Javon Walton), a big fan of the Samaritan who believes he is alive, struggles to find and prove that he is out there and not dead as they say. The script is quite weak, the villain is terrible but the movie stands out with a very good thing, Javon Walton is certainly what makes this movie have some quality, his character and performance as Sam was incredibly fun to watch and all the problems Sam goes through are nice to see, but unfortunately this does not sustains the whole movie, the fight scenes are forgettable and in general the performances are bad, even with a twist at the end, the movie didn’t have any impact on me.

Still from ‘Samaritan’, all rights to Amazon.

Pilou Asbæk plays Edwin, the main villain of the movie and this character doesn’t have a soul at all, it’s just that normal and generic villain with a stupid purpose and with bad scenes, it’s not that type of villain you stay scared of, you just hate him as a character. I should highlight a scene where was showed at the Trailer of the movie, where we see Stallone’s character being hit by a car, and that was, for sure, TERRIBLE and I don’t know why but when I watched that all that I could feel was shame.

If you looking forward to watch a fun movie, stay away from this one, ‘Samaritan’ starts well but goes downhill bringing one of the worst performances of Stallone’s career, a soulless movie that had more potential.
