Looking back at 2021, our first-ever MCU Disney+ series was WandaVision, released in mid-January. In 2022, the first MCU series to premiere was Moon Knight in late March. In 2023, it looks like Marvel has pushed back the Disney Plus slate even further, with the release of Secret Invasion.
Secret Invasion was first confirmed to be in development in late 2020, when Variety reported that Marvel Studios was developing a Nick Fury solo-series, in which Samuel Jackson would star. However, it wasn’t until December that Marvel Studios officially confirmed the show’s existence during The Walt Disney Company’s 2020 Investor Day presentation by Marvel head Kevin Feige.
On Disney+ Day on November 12, 2021, we received our first look at the series: just a shot of Nick Fury, but without his iconic eye patch.

The series features Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke, with Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Crew
The series is directed by Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim. Kyle Bradstreet serves as the creator/scribe for the show. Executive producers include Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet, and Brian Tucker. Sylvaine Dufaux, Remi Adefarasin, and Eben Bolter (reshoots) were the cinematographers for the series.
James Stanger and Melissa Lawson Cheung serve as editors, and Kris Bowers is set to score the series.

In Marvel Studios’ new series “Secret Invasion,” set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
